RED-AND-WHITE CRAKE Laterallus leucopyrrhus
Creeping about in dense reedbeds you will need a major dose of luck to see one of these handsome little marshbirds, barely larger than a sparrow. You will however undoubtedly hear them, whether you know what you are hearing or not! The three species of Laterallus crakes all produce a rapid trill that is not species specific, meaning that many trip lists end up with Laterallus sp on them, but only the lucky ones get to tell exactly which species it is!!
