FRANKLINīS GULL Larus pipixcan
As well as the expertise required to identify it, there is a large dose of luck involved in finding a new species for a country avifauna. Imagine then the luck required to find two new species for a country avifauna on the same day! That is precisely what happened at Estero Patiņo on 17 June 2004 when this species and Rufous-chested Dotterel were both firsts for Paraguay! Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
