MISSISSIPPI KITE Ictinia mississippiensis
A graceful migrant kite, the Mississippi passes through Paraguay in small numbers during the late spring, when flocks may mix with other raptors. Extremely similar to the resident Plumbeous Kite, note that this species lacks the conspicuous rufous patches on the primaries, has no white tail band and has a pale trailing edge to the secondaries.
