ORANGE-BACKED TROUPIAL Icterus croconotus
He´s big and orange, and the only thing you could feasibly mistake him for in Paraguay is in fact a big orange! The Troupial is an oriole, adapted to the dry woodlands of the Chaco. Here the birds tend towards brownish plumage and he stands out as one of the most beautiful birds, not only in the Chaco, but perhaps in the whole world.
