DWARF TREE-FROG Dendropsophus nanus
A tiny, tree-frog barely larger than your thumb-nail. Despite their small size they are active all year round, usually perching fairly low in bushy vegetation overhanging water from where males call looking for a mate. Males can be identified by their conspicuous yellow throat. This species is frequently confused with the similar and even smaller Dendropsophus sanborni, to the point where they were once considered conspecific. Note however the clear structural differences in head shape and the different call.

Gallery 2: Colour variation in adult Dendropsophus nanus
