PALLASīS LONG-TONGUED BAT Glossophaga soricina
A nectarivorous bat blessed with a long, extensile tongue with a brush tip, this species is the bat equivalent of a hummingbird. Hovering in front of night-blooming flowers they are important pollinators of certain tree species. The species has a wide distribution from Mexico south to northern Argentina but is apparently uncommon in Paraguay. Typically the species can be easily-recognised by its long snout, evident in the skull pictures below.
