GALERUCINAE - SKELETONISING LEAF BEETLES
Small Chrysomelids with head narrower than the prothorax and prothorax narrower than the elytra base. Antennae well-developed. Most species feed on dicotyledenous plants, though some feed on monocotyledons. Adults typically feed on pollen and leaves, with larvae generally feeding on roots. Many are serious pests, either through direct destruction of plant material or through the transmission of viruses. Some species have been used in the biological control of weeds. The Alticinae are now considered a tribe Alticini of the Galerucinae.
