BLUE-WINGED PARROTLET Forpus xanthoptygerus
If you´ve ever wondered how small parrots get, then the answer is about this small! The tiny, stub-tailed parrotlet is smaller than a sparrow and has a twittery call that is easily mistaken for a songbird. Its not uncommon, even occurring in the suburbs of Asunción, but like all parrots is most often seen in flight, disappearing imperceptibly into the foliage as soon as they land in trees! Males have blue areas on the wing and rump, females are entirely green!
