BLACK-BACKED WATER-TYRANT Fluvicola albiventer
The Black-backed Water-Tyrant makes his living amongst floating vegetation in marshy areas. He is an inquisitive bird, prone to investigating nooks and crannies in search of prey, all the time flicking his wings and fanning and pumping his tail. Though widespread he is most numerous in the Paraguayan Pantanal, where an abundance of lush aquatic vegetation creates the ideal habitat.
