Gallery 2 - Labidus - Widespread and frequently encountered ants. The former species is somewhat subterranean, the latter is known for its swarm raids both above and below ground. Neivamyrmex - The most diverse and widespread genus of the subfamily. They are specialised predators of other ant species and are not often encountered because of their subterranean habits. Males, like that in Fig 2f, are sometimes known as "Sausage Flies" because of their body shape. (www.myrmecos.net).
