SUBFAMILY ARSENURINAE: GENUS DYSDAEMONIA
Dysdaemonia are large moths that rest with spread wings, sometimes allowing the forewings to droop lazily over part of the hindwings. They possess clear discal spots and notable "tails". Colouration is variable with green and brown morphs occurring. The two Paraguayan species can be distinguished by examining the hindwing discal spot. It is large and ringed darker in fosteri, and much reduced without darker ringing in braziliensis.
