Opossums are Marsupials. Their young are born in an undeveloped state and, still blind and naked, make their way to a teat in a pouch on the underside of the female where they complete their development. The White-eared Opossum is a large species and the most commonly-encountered member of its family. It is semi-arboreal, feeding in the tree-tops, but equally as happy on the ground. They are nocturnal, passing the day in a hollow tree.
