CURCULIONIDAE - WEEVILS
Weevils are sometimes known as "Snout Beetles" on account of the diagnostic head shape with elongated "snout". Herbivores and often associated with grain, some species are serious crop pests. Higher taxonomy in this groups is in a state of flux and a great number of species are involved (60,000+ worldwide).
