DARK-BILLED CUCKOO Coccyzus melacoryphus
Coccyzus cuckoos are specialist caterpillar eaters, a high-protein, if somewhat wriggly diet! Like other members of the genus they are secretive, often skulking birds, but with his rich cinnamon belly and black-and-white tail, it is worth the effort to seek him out. In flight the long-pointed wings give him a surprisingly falcon-like silhouette.
