SEDGE WREN Cistothorus platensis
With a wide distribution stretching from Canada down to Argentina it may seem to strange to say that the Sedge Wren is something of a local speciality in Paraguay! In fact its distribution here is very limited, and it occurs in just a few areas of natural grassland in the Oriental region. The taxonomy of wrens is something that requires study and many species such as this that have wide distributions may actually be made up of several very similar "cryptic species" with less extensive distributions. For this reason it is is important that we conserve the Paraguayan Sedge Wren!
