MAGPIE TANAGER Cissopis leverianus
Its easy to see why this large, long-tailed, black-and-white tanager was given the name Magpie Tanager, its similarity to a Black-billed Magpie Pica pica is undeniable. The largest member of its family it is unmistakeable in Paraguay. He is a sociable bird of humid forest edge, often one of the most visible species in this habitat as a result of his vocal nature and his inability to keep still for more than a few seconds!
