CRIMSON-CRESTED WOODPECKER Campephilus melanoleucus
Campephilus are big woodpeckers, and this is the cerrado representative of the group! Characteristic of this genus is the "double-drum", two quick raps of the bill which serve to maintain contact - they are usually encountered in pairs. In Paraguay this widespread species is confined to the northern half of the country.
