PECTORAL SANDPIPER Calidris melanotos
One of the most numerous Paraguayan sandpipers, this species is named for the sharp definition between the streaky breast and the white underparts which occurs in the pectoral area. There is a great disparity in size between the male and the female, which often leads to confusion amongst observers, especially in a mixed flock of birds.
