DUNLIN Calidris alpina
The Dunlin pictured here was the first record of the species in Paraguay. It belongs to the subspecies pacifica, which usually winters south to Mexico. Even more bizarrely it was in full breeding plumage and was in Paraguay when the other members of its species were up in northern Canada and Alaska breeding! I can only presume it decided to take a year off!!
