WHITE-BELLIED WARBLER Basileuterus hypoleucus
In the northern Oriental region of Paraguay, this little known warbler is fairly common in subhumid forest. It is similar in many respects to the well-known and widespread Golden-crowned Warbler of the humid forest. So similar are they in fact that they respond to each others call and hybridise wherever they meet. Recent molecular studies have suggested that there is likely a reason for this - they are probably conspecific!
