RUFOUS-TAILED ATTILA Attila phoenicurus
Despite his bright red-orange plumage, the Attila is surprisingly hard to see. That doesn´t mean he is hard to detect, because his constant, loud, distinctive calling betrays his presence. However there are only a few scattered records in Paraguay, where its distribution is poorly understood. The species seems to be present seasonally in very small numbers in San Rafael NP, but records from the Chaco are suggestive that migration may take place along the Paraguay River. The images below are the first of the species taken in Paraguay.
