ARCTIINI - TIGER MOTHS
Robust and mainly large Tiger Moths with broad forewings and fairly broad hindwings. Sc + R1 is swollen at the base on the hindwing. Forewings often with bold, but simple colouration, concealing brightly-coloured hindwings and often a strongly-banded and colourful abdomen. Larvae feed on a variety of plant species, especially aromatic plants and are often polyphagous. They are densely setose with setae arising in tufts from tubercles - the stereotypical "woolly bear".
