GOLDEN-WINGED CACIQUE Archiplanus chrysopterus
Unlike the sociable Red-rumped Cacique, the Golden-winged is a solitary species. He builds the same hanging-basket nests, but a single pair find their own branch on which to hang it. Its a relatively shy species, they are harder to find than their red-rumped cousins, but they are much less choosy when it comes to habitat. You are as likely to find a Golden-winged Cacique in the driest Chaco woodlands as you are in the humid Atlantic forest. Adults have a pale iris, it is darker in juveniles.
