AZARA´S NIGHT MONKEY Aotus azarae
The famous Night Monkey is a rarely seen, but not uncommon primate, distributed entirely in the forests of the Chaco. In Paraguay it is crepuscular in behaviour rather than strictly nocturnal, being active on cloudy days in small groups of up to five individuals. Night Monkeys possess two huge, round, pinkish-red eyes, proportionately larger when compared to the head than those of any other monkey - a clear adaptation to an existence in low light conditions.
