RED SHOVELER Anas platalea
Dabbling about with hits huge spoon-shaped bill, the Red Shoveler is a distinctive duck. An irregular winter visitor to Paraguay they are most often encountered in small flocks in the Chaco. Dull brown females are very similar to females of the rarer Cinnamon Teal, but their "shovel" usually sets them apart!
