WHITE-BELLIED RED AMPHISBAENID Amphisbaena alba
Despite the common name this is a large and generally orange-yellow amphisbaenid with a slightly paler head. It is an uncommon, or at least difficult to find species that is distributed mainly in cerrado areas of northeastern Paraguay. It is widely distributed in central South America but because of the poorly-defined head and willingness to bits local legends refer to them as the snake with two heads!
