SPOTTED PACA Agouti paca
This large rodent is a nocturnal inhabitant of the Atlantic Forest that is instantly recognisable by his spotted pelage. Because of its size it is a popular dish for indigenous hunters. They located the burrows of the animals during the day - easily done because of the remarkably loud snoring made by the sleeping creature! They then block all the exits they can find and wait by a single exit that they leave free. Pumping smoke into the burrow wakes the unfortunate Paca who sprints towards the only free exit where the hunters are waiting for him!
