AETALIONIDAE: CICADA-HOPPERS
Somewhat intermediate in appearance between a cicada and a leafhopper, this family has only recently been split from the latter. Females of many species guard their brood, using their legs to scrape the larvae of parasitic wasps off their eggs. Members of this family are recognised by their distinctive colouration, pale wing veination and bulging eyes.
