SPOTTED SANDPIPER Actitis macularia
Bouncing his tail up and down as he goes, and flying on rigid, stiff wingbeats, the Spotted Sandpiper is more recognisable for what he does than what he looks like. Indeed most of the individuals that make it to Paraguay are already adopting their winter plumage and hardly appear spotted at all! This species is surprisingly uncommon in the country, with only a few passing through on migration to their wintering grounds further south.
